Activity Centre

Catering for school, youth and adult groups, the centre is ideally placed in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

With a mobile climbing wall, the problem of obtaining planning permission in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is removed and also allows the wall to be towed to other locations, for rental by other operators, to fulfil bookings by school groups in otherwise quiet periods, or for 'centre promotion days' at fetes and trade fairs.

With a versatile Highline Extreme mobile climbing wall, the centre can also offer bouldering and abseiling as additional activity options. And with options to lower the wall and retract the overhangs, the centre can offer a variety of climbing experiences in one compact space.

Scout Group

With help from Highline Extreme, the group successfully bid for a grant, which covered the full purchase cost of the climbing wall.

Since then, they have used it in a wide variety of ways.

Several of the leaders and older Explorer Scouts have become authorised as instructors, and they regularly take the wall to scout district and county events – proving a huge attraction and a great recruiting tool.

They also rent out the wall to other groups, bringing in regular income.

County Youth Service

The county youth service uses the wall for its own events as well as loaning it for several days at a time to local schools.

The service runs 'site specific' training courses for the school teachers, enabling them to run their own sessions as they wish.

The wall is available for rental and provides an additional source of income for the service. It travels extensively around the county and provides high-profile evidence that the youth service is active locally.

The wall was custom painted by local youngsters before delivery – ensuring 'ownership' and providing a superb real-world project for several year-elevens – and helping to generate publicity.

Rental operator

Shift worker has boosted his regular income with a wall rental business, to provide a full income following early retirement.

With limited climbing experience and no formal training, Highline Extreme organised a short course, helping to get the business started.

He now has regular bookings from councils, event organisers, corporate hospitality and promotion firms and also takes space at fetes and fairs, charging climbers on a "per go" basis – helping to generate more income and maximise his investment.

With a Highline Extreme wall, he's been able to charge higher rental rates than his competitors because the climbing wall can accommodate six climbers at once. And, with auto belays fitted, has reduced the need for extra staff, allowing him and his wife to run the venture together.

He's also planning to offer more formal, extended climbing experiences to local schools.

Drug Awareness Team

Like any group with a message to get across, the team finds their climbing wall an irresistible “hook”.

Their brightly-painted wall attracts lots of interest, and, with their slogan displayed along its height, it's a big draw with youngsters and helps promote their message to passers-by.

Corporate user

When taking its custom-made wall to trade and consumer fairs, promotional events and staff family days, it makes a real impact.

The 9m wall literally stands out amongst the other exhibitors and can be clearly identified from the other side of any showground and big, crowded venues such as the NEC.

And by customising the shape and colour of their wall, they've been able to attract new audiences for their products.

Charity

Having run charity abseils for several years, they realized that by holding them in town centres and local showgrounds, they would be much more visible to potential donors.

Their branded wall ensures their presence is unmissable – and donations from "bucket collections" have soared.

Their sponsored climbs on the wall are also a much more environmentally-friendly option than a real ascent on Ben Nevis or Snowdon.
